This program is new for Fall 2026
The Reduced Rate Program offers a limited number of eligible student residents a reduction in their housing charges only. Selected students will receive a 20% reduction per installment on their housing charges, this does not include meal plan charges.
(For example: If your standard housing installment charge is $2,500, a 20% reduction equals $500 off, resulting in a reduced housing charge of $2,000 per installment. This reduction applies to housing charges only and does not apply to other fees or charges.)
The Reduced Rate Program is made possible through a state-funded student housing construction grant.
CSU Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program (HEDHGP)
CSU Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program (HEDHGP) funded $88,900,000 for Cal State Fullerton – Student Housing, Phase 5 for the construction of a six-story, 154,710 Gross Square Footage (GSF) Student Housing building on the site of the former Jewel Plummer Cobb Residence Halls. Funded through the 2022-2023 Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program and later transitioned to CSU Systemwide Revenue Bonds, the project aims to provide 512 apartment-style beds, including 390 affordable and 122 standard-rate beds, helping to accommodate 30% of students on thecurrent housing waitlist. With nearly 42,000 students and only 2,196 existing on-campus beds, the university faces a significant housing shortage. This project aligns with Cal State Fullerton’s Strategic Plan to enhance student success by providing affordable housing, improving retention and graduation rates, and supporting first-generation and underrepresented students. The building will include study spaces, staff offices, a marketplace, and shared common areas to foster engagement. Designed to meet CSU’s Sustainability Policy, it will feature energy-efficient systems, drought-tolerant landscaping, and advanced water conservation measures.
